About the exhibition

The ice age has returned to Aalborg. Here you can get an idea of how the ice and the water kneaded and formed the Danish landscape and you can experience the incredible animals that lived on the Mammoth steppe.

The exhibition is supported by Nordea-fonden and is a collaboration between Aalborg Zoo and Naturhistorisk Museum in Aarhus

We are looking forward to bringing you “Back to the ice age” from April 8th to October 22nd 2017.

Aalborg Zoo opened in 1935 and has about 400,000 visitors each year. The animals are of course the focal points, when you visit Aalborg Zoo; in our cozy garden you can meet close to 140 different animal species. The large variation of exotic and in many instances endangered animals is one of the important reasons why Aalborg Zoo in 2015 was elected the best zoo in Europe, in the category of zoo’s with up to 500,000 visitors.

You can see sloths, polar bears, and red pandas up close, experience spider monkeys and chimpanzees’ incredible acrobatics, and as the only place in Denmark, you can meet the African bush elephant, the Asiatic lion, and the Bornean orangutan.

In Aalborg Zoo something happens all year and the whole family can join in on the games, learning and the entertainment. The natural playground is located in the middle of the zoo, here you can pretend to be an orangutan, and next to it, is the barbecue area, where you can barbecue your own food. On “Zoofariscenen” zoo keeps perform with their trained animals and tell much more about the life in the ice age.
